Many people with small businesses fail to understand the incredible promotional potential of writing short articles about their work and products. And there is also scope for writing about one’s daily working life. The more intimate we become with our clients, the greater the bond. And writing in this way can quickly gain new clients.

The articles do not have to be long or drawn out. A simple piece and one image will establish a rapport with all who see the article. Say, for example, you are a holistic healer. How would you attract clients? A casual look around social media proves that one picture and a few words can illicit tens or hundreds of comments. The formula works without dispute.

First, we consider the information and structure of the short article, which will be used on social media. Powerful writing can be one picture and a few words. Let’s write an article about Colour!

Colour

According to colour researchers Dr Luscher and Theo Gimbel, Colour has a powerful effect on our thinking and actions. If we prefer the colour yellow, we will be future orientated. It is the Colour of the sun, the source of all growth. Interestingly, just 3% of the world’s population prefers the colour yellow. A good writer learns to think about how the reader will consider the words read. A reader could immediately think, “I like yellow. Your statement is not accurate. More than 3% of the population must like yellow.” The internal dialogue demonstrates that the information is often misinterpreted. The word used is preference, not like. So the sentence is restructured:

According to colour researchers Dr Luscher and Theo Gimbel, Colour has a powerful effect on our thinking and actions. If the colour yellow is our favourite, we will be future orientated. It is the Colour of the sun, the source of all growth. Interestingly, just 3% of the world’s population prefers yellow! And the world’s most successful companies know the potential of yellow. MacDonalds – JCB – Shell – Mail Chimp, and Ferrari all use yellow in their company logos.

So the preference for the Colour not only suggests a future, warmth and growth. It also influences the viewers in the same way. Yellow increases one’s appetite (Macdonalds), Building (JCB), The Sun, energy (Shell), Connectivity (Mail Chimp), and Ferrari (affluence).

I will write about my 20 years of working with Colour in many new articles. By understanding the influences of Colour and reviewing a customer’s colour choice, we realise the incredible insights a “Colour Reading” can provide. To book a recorded video reading, follow the link below.

End of article.

You must write about an example of your work and how it can help a potential client. There needs to be an example and a reason for the model. In the example above, I explain the relationship between preferring the colour yellow and its psychological influence without using complex information or reference to extensive colour psychology research. The 200 words took less than 10 minutes to write and 20 minutes to check grammar and intelligibility.

The picture demonstrates a low preference for yellow. To see how effective the short article is, I have placed this article on The LizianEvent Group Page! It will be interesting to see the results.

I intentionally made this article short, just 580 words. So as you can realise how easy it is to teach a potential client about your work and how easy it can be to use the article on various social media platforms. In this instance, Facebook and Instagram. I’ll keep you posted on the outcome of the experiment!
