Self Help for Seasonal Affective Disorder – SAD 26 October 2020

We’ve enjoyed a phenomenal response following the publication of yesterday’s LizianEvents News an article about Seasonal Affective Disorder – SAD.  Here’s some additional information which I spoke of during yesterday’s ( 26 October ) Facebook Live. Many people seek help with self-care at this time of year, especially if they are experiencing symptoms of SAD. Many thanks, for watching my Facebook live – Liz.

Crystals for SAD:

–  it’s orange sparkle within the crystal reminds us of the Sun’s warmth, brings joy and acts as an anti-depressant by lifting our mood and spirits.
Citrine – the sunshine crystal – uplifting, bringing positivity and an abundance of joy, wealth and prosperity.  A great ‘go-to’ crystal when looking for a mood lift.
Peach Aventurine – the iron within Peach Aventurine gives it the orange colour and represents inner strength when we feel depleted.  Warming and motivating.
Yellow Calcite – look ahead to the future, reminds us of sunny days to come and helps lift the clouds of sadness
Lepidolite – helps to balance moods and alleviate depression.  Use it to remind oneself to not dwell on negative thoughts and feelings.  Helps with restful sleep.

Incense to help lift depression and SAD:

Frankincense has been said to help lift mood and balance hormones. One study which used frankincense to promote relaxation found it was effective in alleviating depression.

Essential oils to use to combat depression and SAD:

Lavender, Basil, Neroli
, are my oils of choice and usually easy to obtain,  however, you could try also Ylang Ylang, Clary Sage, Sandalwood, Geranium, Petitgrain, Chamomile.  Perhaps experiment with blending your own oil blend to use in diffusers, oil burner, in your bath or with a carrier oil for massage.
